| dc.description | SUMMARYA gas chromatographic method for the analysis of methoxyflurane in blood has been developed in which the anaesthetic is extracted from the blood sample by equilibration with silicone fluid. Because of its non-volatility, injection of the silicone extractant into a chromatograph results in a methoxyflurane peak, eluted after 1 minute, that is not accompanied by a solvent peak. The method permits the storage of specimens for several days before chromatography and is well suited to batch analysis. There is a linear response to concentrations of methoxyflurane in the tested range of 1–20 mg/100 ml and the reproducibility is an improvement upon that published for other techniques (±1.8 per cent coefficient of variation for methoxyflurane in blood 10 mg/100 ml). |
