A simplification (ommission of the initial bromination step) of Bark and Higsonʼs method for the determination of cyanide permits the direct determination of cyanogen chloride. A study of the experimental parameters has been made, and interferences from sulphur dioxide, chlorine and hypochlorite have been successfully eliminated. The conditional molar absorptivity has been found to be 3·41 à 10³ 1 mol^{â 1} mm^{â 1}. The method is well suited to the analysis of solutions of cyanogen chloride in the concentration range from 10^{â 6} to 5 à 10^{â 5} M.
