Nanosized CdS-sensitized TiO2 nanocrystals were successfully prepared by a microemulsion-mediated solvothermal method. The effectiveness of the new photocatalyst was demonstrated by the decomposition of an organic compound and the formation of Ti<sup>3+</sup> on TiO2 under visible-light irradiation.
