As an intermediate model for active dinuclear metal sites in phosphohydrolases, a novel dicopper(ii) complex with a terminal hydroxide has been prepared using a new dinucleating ligand with intramolecular hydrogen-bonding Nâ H sites and sterically hindered tert-butyl groups. It has been characterized by X-ray structure analysis, magnetic susceptibility, and ESR and electronic absorption spectroscopies.
