The solution structure of the two intimate ion pairs present in solution for [PtMe(η<sup>2</sup>-olefin)(α-diimine)]BF4 compounds, their relative abundance and the consequent thermodynamic equilibrium parameters have been determined by a quantitative detection of H⠯F interionic dipolar interactions in the <sup>19</sup>F,<sup>1</sup>H-HOESY NMR spectra.
