Аннотация:
The fundamental physics and chemistry that control the formation of nanoporous gold involve a complex choreography of electrochemical dissolution, diffusion, and geometry. In this chapter, we introduce the basic phenomenology of dealloying, including the physical origin of the parting limit and critical potential. Related topics we discuss include the surface-diffusion-controlled mechanism of porosity evolution and methods to control the length scale of porosity. Finally, we list a few historical aspects of dealloying that help put the study of nanoporous gold into a rich cultural context.
