Acoustic inverse scattering problems of polygonal shape reconstruction

Abstract

The authors extend and apply the inverse scattering techniques of Colton and Monk (1987) to two-dimensional bodies with sharp corners and concavities. In particular they study how the functional representation of the unknown shape affects their inversion algorithm. They demonstrate the efficiency of a piecewise polynomial representation on sample reconstructions of polygons and non-convex profiles.
