The author constructs a Kaluza-Klein ansatz for the chiral N-2 D=10 supergravity theory which contains the five-dimensional graviton and a 15 of SO(6) gauge fields in a background described by the product of a five-dimensional maximally symmetric anti-de Sitter spacetime times a round 5-sphere. It is found that some of the generically expected inconsistencies do not appear. It is also shown that a restricted ansatz containing the bosonic fields of N=2 D=5 supergravity is consistent to all orders. The author comments on the relation of these results to their analogues in the S7 compactification of D=11 supergravity and to the consistency conjecture that has been proposed.
