| dc.description | The Cauchy problem for the sinh-Gordon equation on the whole axis with non-zero boundary values at infinity is studied. The main part of the paper is devoted to investigation of the direct and inverse problems for the associated Lax operator. The characteristic properties of the corresponding scattering data are obtained as well as their evolution in time. It allows us to prove the solvability of the Cauchy problem and to construct a multisoliton regular solution. |
