| dc.description | A theory of electromagnetic interactions of electrons with rough metal surfaces is developed. It is shown that the excitation of charge density oscillations in microscopic particles of a metal on the surface can give rise to intense emission of light under electron bombardment of the surface at grazing incidence. |
