| dc.description | Three-photon sum frequency generation (TP-SFG) is introduced as a new technique to determine resonances on the upper polariton branch. First measurements on β-AgI yield information on the longitudinal-transverse splitting of exciton polaritons, which involve transitions from the upper valence bands (Γ<sub>7</sub>, Γ<sub>9</sub> symmetry) to the lowest conduction band (Γ<sub>7</sub> symmetry). |
