The trail problem on finitely ramified fractals

Using an exact real-space renormalisation group technique. The authors show that self-avoiding trails (SAT) and self-avoiding walks (SAW) on the Sierpinski gasket obey the same critical exponent nu for the 'correlation length' and therefore belong to the same universality class. On the other hand, it is shown that SAT on branching Koch curves with maximum ramification number R<sub>max</sub>>3 is in a different universality class from that of SAW.
