dc.description A double-parameter approximation method is applied to the Einstein-Maxwell equations of general relativity for the study of electromagnetic waves for any isolated cohesive source. It is found that, in general, the source undergoes secular changes of mass and angular momentum at rates equal and opposite to those at which energy and angular momentum are carried away by the waves from the source, as calculated by the electromagnetic energy tensor.
