Total and differential cross sections for charge transfer in He<sup>2+</sup>-He<sup>+</sup> collisions: trajectory effects

Cross sections have been computed for charge transfer in collisions between <sup>4</sup>He<sup>+</sup> and <sup>4</sup>He<sup>2+</sup> ions for centre-of-mass collision energies 0.21<or=E<or=2.50 keV. The semiclassical impact parameter method was employed, with a basis of atomic orbitals modified by plane-wave translation factors. Both rectilinear and Coulomb trajectories were used, and the differential cross sections were found to be sensitive to the assumed form of trajectory. Comparison is made with molecular orbital calculations by Dickinson and Hardie (1979).
