The anisotropy in the population of the 2p excited state of the helium ion during the simultaneous ionization and excitation of helium by photon impact is studied. Theoretical results are presented for the alignment A<sub>0</sub> and the related parameter for photon energies from threshold to 150 eV. The angular variation of the correlation parameters (, A<sub>1+</sub><sup>c</sup> and O<sub>1-</sub><sup>c</sup>) is also given at 80 and 100 eV photon energies.
