dc.description A novel feature of the polarizational bremsstrahlung (BrS) emitted in a fast collision of a heavy charged projectile with an atom is described. The peculiarity in the cross section of the process originates from the kinematics of atomic electrons in the polarizational bremsstrahlung process and is similar to that which occurs in inelastic scattering, where it is known as the Bethe ridge. In the polarizational BrS process the Bethe peculiarity manifests itself as an additional maximum in the velocity dependence of the cross section.
