We consider electromagnetic resonances of ring structures in media capable of supporting a fixed polarization direction within the material (frozen polarization media, FPM) using rectangular metal waveguides as a model. It turns out that the nature of such resonances is strictly related to the topology of the space occupied by the field and the symmetry of its transverse pattern. |
