An intermediate-energy approximation based on the two-potential treatment of the first-order static and the second-order polarisation-absorption parts of the optical model potential has been developed. The approximation yields with only moderate computation results for e-He elastic scattering in good agreement with experiment over the entire angular range for incident energies in the range 100-500 eV and is easily extendable to more complex target atoms.
