To check the accuracy of theoretically predicted repulsive potential surfaces, the differential scattering patterns are calculated and compared with measured ones. The measurements have been performed for the systems He-CO₂, Ar-CO₂, Ar-N₂ in the angular range corresponding to interaction energies from a few tenths of an electron volt up to 5 eV. The significant disagreements between computed results and experimental findings are discussed.
