dc.description First-order many-body theory has been used to calculate correlation and coherence parameters for the electron impact excitation of the 3<sup>1</sup>P<sub>1</sub> and 3<sup>3</sup>P<sub>1</sub> and states of neon. Both LS-coupled and spin-orbit-coupled results are reported for the 3<sup>1</sup>P<sub>1</sub> state. Calculations were completed for E=20, 30, 40, 50, 80, 100 and 120 eV electron impact energies. Theoretical results are compared with those that were obtained from electron-photon coincidence measurements.
