Photoemission cross sections of the valence states of MoS2 are investigated in the photon energy range 30 to 150 eV using synchrotron radiation. Modulations of emission intensities are observed which are attributed to two effects of atomic origin: copper minima and a configuration interaction involving 4p to 4d and 4d to epsilon f transitions in molybdenum. The orbital character of the separate valence emission features of MoS2 is confirmed.
