Magnetic susceptibility of hydrazine intercalated TiSe<sub>2</sub>

Magnetic susceptibility measurements of TiSe<sub>2</sub> and the hydrazine intercalation complex TiSe<sub>2</sub>(N<sub>2</sub>H<sub>4</sub>)<sub>0.6</sub> show a large increase in the temperature-independent, Pauli susceptibility of 7.0*10<sup>-5</sup> EMU mol <sup>-1</sup> upon intercalation. This confirms that there is substantial charge transfer to the Ti d band and that the intercalation complex is a d band metal. Measurements on the vanadium substituted materials V<sub>0.01</sub>Ti<sub>0.99</sub>Se<sub>2</sub> and V<sub>0.03</sub>Ti<sub>0.97</sub>Se<sub>2</sub>, show a partial loss of the V local moment on intercalation.
