ENDOR and transferred spin densities of the 4f<sup>11</sup> ions in fluorides

The ENDOR of Er<sup>3+</sup> cubic paramagnetic centres is investigated in CaF<sub>2</sub>. The data on the measurements of the transferred hyperfine interaction (THFI) parameters are compared with the THFI data of Gd<sup>3+</sup>, Eu<sup>2+</sup>, Ho<sup>2+</sup>, Yb<sup>3+</sup>, and Tm<sup>2+</sup> in CaF<sub>2</sub> and Yb<sup>3+</sup>, Tm<sup>2+</sup> in KMgF<sub>3</sub>. For the interpretation of the total experimental data the model proposed by Anikeenok et al. (1982) is used. A new mechanism for THFI due to the mixture of 4f and 5p(5d) states by the crystalline field is considered.
