| dc.description | A general correlation of high-energy excitations of negative-U centres with metastable structural changes in glassy semiconductors is shown to follow from a recent theory identifying the negative-U centres with self-trapped electron and hole pairs. Some related effects characteristic of glassy semiconductors are considered. Correlations between the selftrapped pair excitations and low-temperature anomalies in the glasses are discussed. |
