Structural ordering below T<sub>c</sub> in KDP and DKDP

High-resolution neutron diffraction studies have been carried out on KH<sub>2</sub>PO<sub>4</sub> at 1K, 10K and 20K below T<sub>c</sub> (123K), and on 95% deuterated K(D<sub>x</sub>H<sub>1-x</sub>)<sub>2</sub>PO<sub>4</sub> at 2K, 6K and 10K below T<sub>c</sub> (224K). The results show that in both cases the structural ordering is homogeneous: the temperature dependence of the proton (deuteron) ordering is the same, within error, as that of the heavy-atom displacements. And the temperature dependence of this structural ordering is the same as that of the spontaneous polarisation.
