The Jeener-Broekaert pulse sequence is applied to the chlorine nuclear quadrupole resonance in a polycrystalline sample of K2OsCl6 at 295K. The system is interesting because the resonance is inhomogeneously broadened and one might expect that the Jeener-Broekaert sequence would not be able to effect the transfer of energy from the quadrupolar to the dipolar reservoir. However, the observed in-phase response is very nearly the dipolar echo for certain values of the spacings of the pulses in the sequence. The variation of the response with pulse spacings is qualitatively accounted for by an extension of the usual spin-thermodynamics treatment explicitly to include the effect of the inhomogeneous broadening.
