Near-infrared optical absorption experiments have been reported for CsNiF₃ in an applied magnetic field. These experiments have been analysed in terms of the magnon density of states, and a magnon lifetime extracted. The authors show that the reported magnon lifetime is more consistent with multi-magnon scattering than with the magnon soliton scattering that was previously suggested to describe the experimental results.
