Dielectric breakdown of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) under high pressure

The dielectric strength of high-density polyethylene was measured under high hydrostatic pressure (50 to 500 bar) at temperatures of 30, 45 and 70 degrees C. Results have shown that the breakdown field E<sub>b</sub> increases with pressure and decreases with temperature for short-time tests.
