dc.description A new spinel CuMnCoO<sub>4</sub> has been synthesized. Its crystal structure has been determined by the powder method. It is found that this compound is tetragonal with a<sup>*</sup>=8·31 Å and c<sup>*</sup>=8·58 Å. The oxidation states of the copper, manganese and cobalt ions appear to be two, four and two respectively, from crystallographic considerations and x-ray absorption spectroscopy.
