Thermal glow curves for NaCl: Sr crystals irradiated with either ultraviolet or x-ray radiation were investigated over the temperature range from room temperature to 500 K. It is observed that the shape of the glow curve depends markedly on the energy of the exciting radiation. The Crawford-Nelson mechanism is shown to have important implications for the hypothesis advanced to explain the x-ray-induced thermoluminescence. |
