A new relationship for the first Townsend ionization coefficient has been derived taking into account associated ionization processes in the gas. Results of calculations of the first ionization coefficient are presented. It turns out that deviations from similarity laws in electrical discharges may be quite significant. This is in qualitative agreement with published experimental data.
