| dc.description | A new technique is described whereby the dynamic compressibility of polymer solutions may be studied directly. The rarefaction wave following the production of a pressure transient was detected and stored digitally. The shape of the pressure transient was found to be in good agreement with theory and justified application of Fourier transform techniques to obtain the frequency-dependent dynamic compressibility. The limitations of the technique are discussed, with reference to studies performed on a series of solvents and on a solution of polyisobutylene in toluene. |
