Describes the construction of an electron electrostatic analyser using the electric field configuration established between two cones maintained at different potentials. The calculated operational characteristics of the electron spectrometer are confirmed by measuring the differential cross section for elastic scattering of electrons from argon atoms at 50 eV incident energy and by observing the helium resonance at 19.34 eV at scattering angles of 23, 60 and 90 degrees . |
