| dc.description | A TEA CO<sub>2</sub> laser has been line narrowed by means of a transversely excited low-pressure gain cell scalable to large apertures. This technique has been developed for enhancing the pumping efficiency of optically pumped lasers at high pump energies and has been successfully applied to the 16 mu m output of CF<sub>4</sub> pumped by the 9R(12) CO<sub>2</sub> line. |
