Use of a ratio transformer bridge for comparison of capacitances in a differential capacitance transducer gives a seven figure bridge reading which is linear in displacement or tilt. Principal application is to a portable tiltmeter reading to 10<sup>−9</sup> rad with a range of 10<sup>−2</sup> rad.
