The analysis of nervous and muscular systems is often facilitated by the ability to perform on-line measurement of instantaneous impulse frequency. This paper is a description of an analogue division technique which is suitable for the measurement of impulse frequencies in the range 0·1-1000 impulses per second. Analogue output is linear with impulse frequency to better than 2%. Temperature dependence of the output between 0 and 40°C is less than 0·2% degC−1.
