A simple technique for the rapid display of dispersion characteristics applicable to any dispersive medium is described. Results are presented for the propagation of ionization waves in the frequency range 5-50 kHz on a helium gas discharge. Comparison with previous point by point determinations shows that not only is the measurement time drastically reduced, but also a reduction in random error is obtained. |
