The electrical properties of a thin film are investigated more efficiently by using an array of small area top electrodes than with a single large area electrode. Such arrays of transparent tin oxide contacts have been made on electroluminescent films by developing a technique which employs two evaporated aluminium masks and an alkali etch to define the contact areas required on each film.
