A technique which exploits the DC current attenuation capabilities of a bipolar transistor permits the design of an adjustable submicroampere current source, with a mean incremental output resistance 1.5 G Omega over a 30 V output range. The circuit is suitable for use in the generation of linear sawtooth voltage sweeps for oscilloscope displays and X-Y plotters.
