Uniaxially aligned carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) has an anisotropic electrical resistivity. A circular disc of this material rotated between two opposite contact brushes exhibits a linear dependence of resistance on angle which could be used as the basis for a transducer. This dependence of resistance on angle has been calculated theoretically and shows excellent agreement with the experimental results. The main difficulty lies in obtaining homogeneous material and a constant contact resistance.
