The article presents an analysis of the typical features of shear Alfvén waves in tokamak plasmas in a frequency domain ranging from the `high' frequencies (ω ≅ v<sub>A</sub>/2qR<sub>0</sub>, where v<sub>A</sub> is the Alfvén speed and qR<sub>0</sub> is the tokamak connection length) of the toroidal gap to the `low' frequencies, comparable with the thermal ion diamagnetic frequency ω<sub>*pi</sub> and/or the thermal ion transit frequency ω<sub>ti</sub> = v<sub>ti</sub>/qR<sub>0</sub> (where v<sub>ti</sub> is the ion thermal speed).
