Extrapolated ionization ranges are presented for H+ ions of energy 5 to 50 keV in the gases A, CO2, N2; these show good agreement with measurements by other authors. Further preliminary measurements of ranges for H+ ions of energy 5 to 50 keV in CH4, C2H2, C2H4, C3H8, C4H10, and for N+ ions of energy 5 to 30 keV in CH4, are presented with an accuracy of ±8%. Estimates of stopping cross-sections of CH4, C2H2, C2H4, C3H8, C4H10 for H+ ions, made from these data, have values in the range 20×10−15 ev cm2 to 76×10−15 ev cm2. |
