Deconvolution techniques used in circulation studies have been compared by generating synthetic curves with known parameters and analysing them by digital and analogue methods. The digital computer technique introduces a systematic error which can only be reduced to reasonable proportions when prohibitively long computer times are used. The analogue computer gives results of sufficient accuracy for clinical purposes which can be available within minutes of completing a measurement.
