| dc.description | A cold magnetized nonuniform plasma layer is considered in order to find out if it can be transparent to radiation as a consequence of parametric decay instability phenomena. The authors derive general expressions for a plasma with an arbitrary density profile, pointing out that the transmitted electromagnetic wave energy can be much larger than that obtained by means of linear theory. The results are then applied to a uniform plasma slab. |
