The dispersion relations for a magnetostrictively coupled spin wave-sound wave system in a metal have been calculated for a simple case. A ferromagnetic acoustic resonance occurs in which a radio frequency magnetic field at the metal surface excites a sound wave. The conversion efficiency of electromagnetic power to sound wave power at the surface is calculated to be 0.1 at resonance.
