The exchange coupling parameters which result from a maximum analysis of the three measured spin wave dispersion curves of terbium and gadolinium are compared. An investigation is reported of the dependence of computed magnetization reduction and magnetic specific heat on exchange coupling information not given by the dispersion curves.
