Negative hyperfine field at Cd impurity sites in the Heusler alloy Pd<sub>2</sub>MnSb

The magnetic hyperfine field at <sup>111</sup>Cd impurity site in the Heusler alloy Pd<sub>2</sub>MnSb has been determined using the method of time-dependent perturbed angular correlations. A value of -232+or-5 kOe was measured at 77K. This is the first negative field to be obtained at a 5sp site in this alloy and establishes a trend from negative to positive fields in Pd<sub>2</sub>MnSb, as the sp valency increases from Cd to Te.
