Spin wave excitations in Pd<sub>0.75</sub>Ni<sub>0.25</sub>

The spin wave dispersion relation in substitutionally disordered Pd<sub>0.75</sub>Ni<sub>0.25</sub> has been measured in neutron inelastic scattering experiments up to a frequency of 13 THz in the (001) direction and 5 THz in the (111) direction. The most interesting feature of the results is that spin waves propagate in this material with an unexpectedly high spin wave stiffness of 77.5+or-6 THz AA<sup>2</sup> (320+or-25 meV AA<sup>2</sup>). Large lifetime effects are observed at frequencies greater than 5 THz.
