| dc.description | A straightforward method of measuring lifetimes of He I excited states, by following the decay of excited states, has yielded generally good agreement with other methods and with theory. Additional information about the importance of indirect population processes is provided by the new technique. In the <sup>3</sup>D system a fraction ranging from 75% to nearly 100% is contributed indirectly. |
