| dc.description | Extensive calculations are being made of the cross sections for electron impact excitation of the metastable levels of the 3p<sup>q</sup> (q = 2, 3, 4) configuration. These cross sections are important in the interpretation of gaseous nebulae spectra. Collision strengths are reported for ions in the 3p<sup>3</sup> isoelectronic sequence. The calculations are made using an improved distorted wave method recently formulated by Seaton. |
